LAB DIRECTOR

He has previously published research in journals such Gait and Posture, Journal of Biomechanics, Motor Control, and Experimental Brain Research. His research has been funded by agencies such as the National Science Foundation and US Army Research Labs. He teaches courses such as KIN 445-Advanced Biomechanics, KIN 479-Motor Control, and KIN 601-Advanced Evidence-Based Practice in Kinesiology. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family and dogs, outdoor activities (running, hiking, cycling, etc.), watching his favorite teams play (Lakers, SF Giants, 49ers), and enjoying the many food and beverage options around L.A.

Jacob W. Hinkel-Lipsker, Ph.D.

Jake is an Associate Professor of Kinesiology at CSUN. His research agenda includes understanding the basic science underlying gait and balance control as well as applications to sport, rehabilitation, and occupational safety and health. Past project include using split-belt treadmills to understand locomotor learning, the role of fatigue in obstacle crossing during gait, using virtual reality to train new motor skills, and implementing augmented reality to cue gait in people with Parkinson’s disease.
